Wulan's entry into the entertainment industry was facilitated by her modeling career. She began her career as a model in 1997, competing in the "Putri Indonesia" (Miss Indonesia) beauty pageant, where she represented the province of Banten. Her stunning looks and charming personality caught the attention of the public, and she soon began to receive modeling offers. Her breakthrough role came in 2001 when she played the lead role in the Indonesian film "Ada Apa dengan Cinta?" (What's Up with Love?), which became a huge commercial success.
