Resident Evil 5 is set in 2009, 10 years after the events of Resident Evil 4. The game follows the story of Chris Redfield and his new partner, Sheva Alomar, as they work for the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) to investigate a bioterrorism threat in Africa. The game's story revolves around the Kijuju city, where a bioterrorism threat has been reported. Players control Chris and Sheva as they navigate through the city, fighting against hordes of undead and other monstrous creatures.
