The movie revolves around a young man named Pandiyan (played by Dhanush), who lives in a village and has a close relationship with his grandmother. After his grandmother's death, Pandiyan shifts to Chennai to find a job. He gets involved with a local rowdy, Muthusamy (played by Saravanan), and his sister, Mangai (played by Divya Spandana).
