Pacific Rim is a science fiction action film that takes place in a future where humanity is on the brink of destruction. Giant monsters, known as Kaijus, emerge from a portal beneath the Pacific Ocean and start attacking major cities around the world. In response, humans build giant robots called Jaegers, which are controlled by two brain-connected pilots. The story follows Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam), a former Jaeger pilot who teams up with a new co-pilot, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), to operate the Jaeger Gipsy Danger and fight against the Kaijus.
