Muthulakshmi Raghavan was born in a traditional Tamil Brahmin family in 1886. Despite facing societal constraints, she pursued her education and became one of the first women to graduate from the University of Madras in 1904. Her early writings were influenced by her experiences as a woman in a patriarchal society and her exposure to social reform movements.
