The film is inspired by the real-life experiences of Philippe Pozzo di Borgo and his caregiver, Driss Bassiry. Philippe, a wealthy and successful art dealer, becomes quadriplegic after a paragliding accident. Driss, a young man from the projects, applies for a job as Philippe's caregiver and, despite initial reservations, becomes his unlikely companion.
