The film begins with a young French woman, Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), who escapes the massacre of her family by the SS officer, Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna assumes a new identity and becomes the owner of a cinema in Paris.
