The film revolves around the story of Rehan (played by Shah Rukh Khan), a tour guide who falls in love with a tourist, Kajol (played by Preity Zinta), while showing her around the city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. As their romance blossoms, they decide to get married. However, their happiness is short-lived, as Rehan's past comes back to haunt him.
