The movie begins with a group of scouts, led by the determined and resourceful Erin (Kaitlyn Dever), who are on a camping trip in the woods. When a zombie outbreak occurs, they must use their scouting skills to survive and protect their town from the undead. Along the way, they team up with a group of high school students, including Carter (Logan Miller) and Beca (Tye White), who are also trying to survive.
