Soriya learns that translation is a craft of omission and invention; Li Wei learns the unsaid grammar of home. They write each other letters — sometimes long emails, sometimes brief voice notes where the pauses carry meaning. Occasionally, Soriya returns, now with proper papers, now with a grant that pays a month’s rent and a chance for a second film. Years later, Li Wei walks past the teahouse where the poster had fluttered. The poster is gone; the alley is cleaned, the lanterns replaced. But when she passes a street vendor selling fish wrapped in banana leaves, she hears Khmer laughter like wind in reeds. She stops and listens.
