The movie revolves around a group of young orphan girls who are being taken care of by a nun, Sister Iris (Alfre Woodard), and a pair of missionaries, Father Michael (Michael Chiklis) and Mother Mariana (Miranda Otto). The story takes a dark turn when one of the girls, Jane (Stephanie Sigman), creates a doll that becomes a vessel for the malevolent spirit of Annabelle.
