The movie takes place in the Hidden Leaf Village, several years after the events of the original Naruto anime series. Naruto Uzumaki, now a young adult, and his friends Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, are on a mission to escort a notorious prisoner named Hito, who possesses confidential information about the village, to a maximum-security prison called Blood Prison.
