The film tells the story of Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton), an Athenian general who becomes the leader of the Greek coalition against the Persian Empire. The Persians, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and Queen Artemisia (Eva Green), seek to conquer Greece and avenge their previous defeat at the Battle of Thermopylae.
